ORGANIZATION CAPABILITY (Entire Section A not to exceed one page) <br /> 1 . Provide the mission statement and vision of your organization. <br /> The Mission statement reads : Offering a nurturing environment where youth and adults can <br /> learn, dream and aspire by developing their self-esteem and learning life survival skills. <br /> Vision <br /> Through a dedicated commitment from the community, become an agency that will inspire <br /> residents to grow by improving their employability skills and filling them with a sense of self- <br /> worth and pride. <br /> 2. Provide a brief summary of your organization including areas of expertise, <br /> accomplishments and population served. <br /> = The Dasie Hope Center was established on September 5 , 2001 in memory of Dasie Bridgewater <br /> (a lifelong resident of Wabasso). Ms. Bridgewater gave back to the community by providing <br /> food, clothing and shelter to those in need. The Center is committed to providing a sense of <br /> community pride for the Wabasso residents by providing the youth a safe place to live to learn. <br /> The Center is dedicated to providing Indian River County residents with the opportunity to <br /> acquire educational and marketable employment skills, with special emphasis on an after school <br /> program specially designed for children 7 to 18 . The areas of expertise assigned to the after <br /> school program include: <br /> • After-School Tutoring <br /> • Computer Training and Desktop publishing <br /> • Interpersonal Skill Development (Etiquette, Professional demeanor, Leadership) <br /> • Peer Shadowing/Mentoring <br /> • Reading Buddies Club <br /> • Art classes <br /> • Career development classes <br /> • Basic financial skills class <br /> • Life Skills Training program <br /> • Substance Abuse Prevention classes <br /> • GED program <br /> • Girl Scouts <br /> The population to be served includes all of the Wabasso community which is considered to <br /> North Indian River County. <br /> 51 <br />
