<br />examined and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such

<br />-.THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF Indian River County met at the Courthouse
<br />at Vero Beach, Indian River County, in a regular meeting at 900 o'clock A. M., Tuesday,
<br />February 19 1955, with the following members present: Commissioners w_C. Grave's. Jr._, Chair-
<br />man, J. J. P..Hamilton, H. C. Watts, and Allison Marren. Absent was Aubrey L. Waddell. Also
<br />present were E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, S. N. Smith, Jr... Attorney, Sam T.
<br />Joyce, Sheriff, and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
<br />Minutes of January 4th were read, and approved upon Motion of Commissioner
<br />Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Warren and carried.
<br />Sherman Smith, Jr., Attorney, reported that after investigating the matter of
<br />the Couanty acquiring the Roseland Satellite Field from the C.A.A.,.he determined that ,the
<br />County would have to maintain and preserve.the ,property for an airport in operating condition,
<br />and the first thing needed would be to resurface the whole thing,. After aonsideratton and
<br />discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Watts, and carried,
<br />that the County was not interested in operating and maintaining the ,Land as an.airport, and
<br />Instructed the attorney to so advise the C.A.A.
<br />Airs. Severin H. Hansen, representing the Roseland Woman's Club, appeared before
<br />the Board and stated that they desired to build an addition to the present Roseland Community
<br />building, and was advised that the Board did not have the autherity to issue a permit for an
<br />addition t'o the building on its present location.
<br />Mrs. Jeanette Lier of Wabasso inquire(k as to County wide zoning and was advised
<br />that the Board was not successful in obtaining anyone to serve on such a board and the only
<br />zoning now in effect related to set back lines on highways.
<br />Regarding the proposed four laning of U. S. Highway 91 (State Road a5) from
<br />the North City line of Vero Beach to the North county line of ,Indian River County, Florida,
<br />petitions were received from citizens of Wabasso, Winter Beach and Gifford, and.the said
