<br />at present contributes a total of $3500.00 per year for radio and firemen and that the required
<br />24 hour radio watch, consisting of three operators,it a total annual cost of $6600.00. He
<br />further stated that the sheriff's department is responsible for approximately 40% of the load
<br />of the central radio station, and that the sheriff's office or county, should assume a pro-
<br />portionate cost of the operation. He also stated that if one or the other could assume the
<br />salary of one of the radio operators the City would consider it a satisfactory adjustment at
<br />the present time. The day operators receive $2400.00 per year and the two night operators
<br />receive $2100.00 per year.
<br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr. was requested to obtain an opinion from the Attorney -
<br />General on the foregoing matter of the county contributing to the operating expenses of the
<br />City's operating system used by the sheriff's office.
<br />Chairman W. C. Graves, Jr. received a letter advising the State Association of
<br />County Commissioners would hold their annual convention in Jacksonville, Florida on March 24,
<br />25 and 26, their headquarters being the Roosevelt Hotel, and stated that County Attorneys and
<br />Road and Bridge Superintendents were invited and urged to attend said meeting. Douglas Baker,
<br />Clerk was instructed to make reservations for all commissioners together with the county

<br />Mrs. Maulbetsch and committee, from Roseland appeared before the Board and
<br />stated they were unhappy about their road situation and requested that the Board do something
<br />about it, The Board advised that Mr. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, would look into
<br />the matter and make improvements as soon
<br />such necessary repairs and as possible.
<br />It was announced that the r&merican Legion would sponsor their Third Annual County
<br />wide fair during the week of March 14th which would be located South of DeLeach Bros. place of
<br />business on U. S. 1, and requested cooperation from the Board and sheriff's office, which was
<br />granted.
<br />S. N. Smith, Jr., Attorney, advised the Board that the air corp had never as yet
<br />officially turned over the several acres of land located on the beach referred to as the atomic
<br />land and located North of the old U. S. Coast Guard station.

<br />Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Marren and carried, the commissioners tentatively approved
<br />the proposed exchange of lands with Fred R. Tuerk, whereby the County would convey to Fred R.
