The parties can mutually agree to extend the above time limits, <br /> if done so in writing . <br /> ARTICLE 13 - DISCIPLINE <br /> Section 1 : Discipline shall be impartially and consistently administered, with the <br /> understanding employees of this unit shall be held to a high standard of conduct as a <br /> result of their position within the organization. During the one-year probationary period, <br /> new employees may be dismissed at the sole discretion of the County and are not entitled <br /> to use the grievance/arbitration procedures relating to their discipline or discharge, and <br /> are not entitled to payments of sick leave or vacation leave at time of termination. <br /> ARTICLE 14 — PAYROLL DEDUCTION OF DUES <br /> Section 1 : The County agrees to deduct prescribed dues and initiation fees from the <br /> earnings of those employees who have signed individual authorization cards for such <br /> deduction. The County shall remit said collections monthly to the duly designated officer <br /> of the Union. <br /> Section 2 : The Union shall indemnify, exonerate, and save the County harmless from <br /> any claims or judgments against the County based upon any check-off of Union dues, <br /> fees, or assessments. The County shall give written notice to the Union by certified mail <br /> addressed to the Business Agent of the Union of any claim against the County based in <br /> whole or in part on any check-off of Union dues, fees or assessments. The Union shall <br /> defend the claim at its own cost and without expense to the County even if such claim is <br /> false, groundless, or fraudulent. <br /> Section 3 : An employee transferred to a classification not in the bargaining unit, or <br /> whose employment is terminated, shall cease to be subject to check-off deduction the <br /> month following the month in which such change in employee status occurs. <br /> Section 4 : The County shall not be required to collect Union dues in arrears. Any <br /> change in dues made by the Union will become effective after a thirty-day written notice <br /> by the Union to the County. <br /> ARTICLE 15 — BULLETIN BOARDS <br /> Section 1 : The Union may have a bulletin board in each EMS BC Office for the posting <br /> of notices . <br /> 7 <br />
