SECTION 02271 <br /> FABRIC FORMED RIPRAP <br /> PART 1 GENERAL <br /> 1 . 01 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> A. Furnish all materials , equipment , labor and perform all operations for placing fabric <br /> formed concrete riprap as shown on the plans and specified herein . Fabric formed <br /> concrete shall be used upstream and downstream of permanent RCP structures . <br /> PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 01 MATERIALS <br /> A . The structural grout shall consist of a mixture of portland cement , fine aggregate , and <br /> water so proportioned and mixed as to provide a pumpable slurry. Pozzolan and grout <br /> fluidifier conforming to this Section may be used at the option of the Contractor. The <br /> proposed mix design shall be submitted for approval with substantiating tests as <br /> follows : <br /> 1 . Portland cement shall conform to Section 921 of the FDOT Standard <br /> Specifications . <br /> 2 . Aggregate shall meet the requirements of the FDOT Standard Specifications for <br /> concrete aggregate , except as to grading . Aggregate grading shall be reasonable <br /> consistent and shall be well graded form the maximum size which can be <br /> conveniently handled with available pumping equipment. <br /> 3 . Water shall conform to Section 923 of the FDOT Standard Specifications , <br /> 4 . Pozzolan shall conform to section 345 of the FDOT Standard Specifications and <br /> shall be used in amounts of 10 to 30 percent by weight of the cement content. <br /> 5 . Grout fluidifier shall conform to Section 924 for Water Reducing and Retarding <br /> Admixtures of the FDOT Standard Specifications . The admixtures may be used to <br /> reduce segregation , increase workability and pumpability, improved strength and <br /> watertightness . <br /> 6 . Grout consistency should be 9 to 11 seconds when passed through a 3/4-in <br /> opening of standard flow cone as in ASTM C939 . Concrete slump tests are not <br /> appropriate . <br /> 7 . Air-Entraining Admixtures shall conform to Section 924 of the FDOT Standard <br /> Specifications . The air content shall not exceed 8 percent of the volume of the <br /> grout. <br /> 8 . The Contractor shall demonstrate the suitability of fabric design by injecting the <br /> proposed grout into 6-in diameter sleeves under a pressure of 10 to 15 psi which <br /> shall be maintained by means of air pressure or a stand pipe for 10 minutes .
