JUN 3 2009 Roadway Production Manager INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ENGINEERING DIVISION Subject : Change Order Request for RECD BY: W - Construction Materials Testing Services 53rd Street Bridge over the Lateral " H " Canal Vero Beach , Indian River County , Florida IRC Project # 0107 Mr. Nixon : As you are aware , Ardaman has been providing construction materials testing services for the above referenced project . Prior to the start of the project , we provided a cost estimate to perform testing services based on estimates of the number of tests and man - hours that were determined using the project information that was available at the time . Upon completion of a project, the final cost for our services is a function of the number of tests and man - hours that were actually required during construction , including additional costs beyond what was originally estimated . We are usually conservative with our estimate and attempt to account for unforeseen changes in scope , additional items or delays that may occur during the course of construction , which inevitably occur given the nature of construction . Various unforeseen , relatively minor items required additional testing or standby time charges during the course of construction . Some of these instances are out of our control and involved our technicians waiting for late concrete trucks , standing by for retests while the contractor applied additional compactive efforts in areas that failed compaction tests , etc . A combination of instances like these has resulted in our original estimate to be slightly exceeded . The final cost of our construction testing services for the project is $4 , 923 . 00 , which is $ 123 . 00 more than our original estimate of $4 , 800 . 00 . Therefore , we are requesting a change order for the amount of $ 123 . 00 for the balance of the cost of our services for the project .
