<br />Chairman Graves announced this meeting was called -to provide the State Road
<br />Department with certain information in order for them to comply with the new Florida Highway
<br />Code which became effective August 3, 1955.
<br />Commissioner hraddell introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption
<br />as follows, to -wit:
<br />E E _J 0 E U T ,1, 0 J1 --- SECONDARY ROAD PROGRAM
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,
<br />Florida, that this Board does herewith select and recommend to the State Road Department of
<br />Florida that the following described roads, situated in Indian River County, Florida, be
<br />designated and established as a part of the secondary road system of the State of Florida,
<br />which said roads are listed in the order of priority and in the order in which this Board
<br />recommends the same for consideration in an improvement program:
<br />1. State Road 607, also known as Emerson Avenue, from the South County Line
<br />North to State Road 60, a distance of 5.5 miles.
<br />2. The South Winter Beach Road from State Road 505 East to State Road 5, a
<br />distance of approximately 2.6 miles.
<br />3. Glendale Road from Lateral B. or State Road 505A, East to State Road 5, a
<br />distance of 3.8 miles.
<br />4. State Road 606, or Oslo Road, from Lateral B. or State Road 505A, East to
<br />State Road 5, a distance of 3.25 miles.
<br />5. State Road 505A, or King's Highway, from the North Relief Canal of the
<br />Indian River Farms Drainage District, North to State Road 510, a distance of 3.75 miles.
<br />6. The Roseland Road from the Town of Roseland Southwesterly to State Road
<br />512, a distance of 4 miles.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution, together
<br />with a general highway map of Indian River County, Florida, prepared by the State Road
<br />Department, upon which the above designated roads have been marked in red with their proper
<br />designation of priority, be forwarded to the State Road Department of Florida.
<br />Upon being duly seconded by Commissioner Warren, and carried, the foregoing
<br />Resolution was unanimously adopted.
<br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and
<br />carried, Sheriff Sam.Joyce was instructed to purchase a radio for a new car which he stated
<br />he had purchased for the Sheriff"s Department. Said radio to cost approximately $900.00.

<br />Chairman Graves stated that he Road & Bridge Superintendent E. E.
<br />and
<br />Carter
<br />had selected
<br />Bill Taylor as architect for the County.
<br />It was moved by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by
<br />Commissioner Hamilton and
<br />carried, that
<br />work be started on the addition of two rooms to the
<br />County Health Center.
<br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by
<br />Commissioner Watts and
<br />carried, Sam
<br />Joyce, Sheriff, was authorized to purchase blankets,
<br />mattress covers and sheets
<br />for the jail.
<br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and
<br />carried, Sheriff Sam.Joyce was instructed to purchase a radio for a new car which he stated
<br />he had purchased for the Sheriff"s Department. Said radio to cost approximately $900.00.
