FRIDAY. FEBRUARY 17,, 1956 <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS of Indian River County met at the Courthouse <br />at Vero Beach, Indian River County, in a regular adjourned meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M. <br />Friday, February 17, 1956, with the following members present: Commissioners W. C. Graves, Jr.'. <br />J. J. P. Hamilton,--ubrey L. -Waddell and Allison Warren. Absent was H. C. Watts. Also <br />present were E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, George Heath. Attorney and Douglas <br />Baker, Clerk, <br />George Heath, Attorney was instructed to contact the United States Government <br />and accept their offer relating to 3.9 acres in Government Lot 1, Section 20, Tns. 32, Range <br />40, to be used as a public park on the beach. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and <br />carried, the Board gave tentative approval to Health Land Subdivision on the South side of <br />t9alker Avenue. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Warren, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and <br />carried that Attorney Smith be instructed to take the necessary steps to vacate and abandon <br />the old AIA right of way. This relates to the Bethel Isle Unit Al area. <br />Jimmy Anderson, Manager of Indian River Memorial Hospital, E. G. Thatcher and <br />Paul Goodridge of the hospital Board, Dr. Neil Miller, Director of the Indian River County <br />Health Department and Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker met with the Board <br />to discuss hospital service for indigents. After considerable discussion in the matter it <br />was decided that no action would be taken until after the hospital board had met in Marc} at <br />which time they would decide whether or not to continue with the county as they are now or <br />whether they wanted to go along with the State Hospitalization Indigent plan. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and <br />carried, that the county would pay the cost of returning John Blanton's wife to. Chattahoochee. <br />A -`committee consisting of Commissioner Waddell and Clerk Baker was appointed <br />to make arrangements for reservations for those going to the County Commissioners Convention <br />-1, <br />in Orlando.
