om <br />E. E. Carter tendered his resignation as Superintendent of Public Roads, <br />effective June 1st. His resignation was accepted with regret. <br />I" <br />The Board then agreed that it would be in order to try and find a qualified <br />man to take Mr. Carter's position. <br />Applications for a position with the County were received and opened from <br />Walter L. Sapp, W. H. Owen and Edward T. Hopson. After some discussion in the matter, it was <br />not quite clear as to what position said applicants were applying for, therefore, it was <br />l <br />ordered that said applications be tabled. <br />Upon therecommendation of E. E. Carter, and upon Motion made by.Commissioner <br />Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr. and carried, even though Commissioner <br />McCullers abstained from voting, Eugene Hamilton was employed as Foreman of the Road & Bridge <br />crew at a salary of $350.00 per month. <br />• Upon the recommendation of E. E. Carter, Superintendent of Roads, and upon <br />Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Robert W. Graves and <br />carried, Aubrey L. Waddell was employed as County Zoning Inspector at a salary of $350.00 <br />per month. <br />Upon motion made by Robert W. Graves, seconded by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr <br />and unanimously carried, Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney, was instructed to prepare and pub- <br />lish a notice requesting bids on one - new two -door Standard Model 6 cylinder automobile, <br />to be used by the County Zoning Inspector. <br />A letter and telegram relating to Voting Machines was submitted to the Board <br />and the matter tabled. <br />Auditors Report #4504 made on the audit of the accounts and records of the <br />officials of Indian River County, was presented to the Board.in accordance with the provisions <br />of Section 125.09, Florida Statutes, and ordered filed as a part of the records of Indian <br />River County. <br />Attorney Smith was instructed to arrange with the Indian River Citrus Bank to <br />• obtain $4,000.00 to be paid to the City of Sebastian, relating to the right-of-way agreement <br />on U. S. #1 Highway. <br />A check in the sum of $700.00 was received from Mrs. H. D. Faircloth, Treasurer <br />of the Indian River County -Mental Health Association, to be used towards the expense of <br />constructing an addition to the County Health Building, said addition to be used by the Mental) <br />,e <br />Health Association. The check was ordered deposited in the Capital Outlay Fund and Clerk <br />Baker was instructed to write a letter of appreciation to the Mental Health Association. <br />Clerk <br />Baker reported <br />to <br />the Board <br />on the <br />application <br />of Amelia Johnson for a <br />license to engage in <br />the occupation <br />of <br />a fortune <br />teller, <br />and stated <br />from his investigation he <br />would recommend that said license not be issued. Upon Motion made by Robert W. Graves, <br />seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the Clerk's <br />recommendation and the license was denied. <br />Attorney Smith submitted a check of Miami Gardens, Inc. (Mr. Sidney D. Ansin) <br />in the sum of $4,000.00 towards the construction of the bridge across the South Relief Canal <br />on 20th Avenue in accordance with a previous agreement and with the further understanding <br />
