t
0' - Z33
Indian River County Utilities
Approved Policies Regarding Payment of Utility Bills During October
• If a customer expresses concern over a bill that was estimated due to the
inability to read meters during the hurricane , the customer can make a
partial payment . A note will be put on their account so they do not incur
future late fees as a result of the partial payment until they receive a bill
with an actual read
• There will be no late fees assessed through November 24 , 2004 .
• Special payment arrangements will be handled on a case-by-case base
for hardship cases that resulted from hurricane related circumstances and
a log would be kept of each occurrence .
• Waivers of application fees will be handled on a case -by-case basis for
customers displaced due to loss of home or use of home as a result of the
hurricanes .
• Waivers of base charges for condemned locations will be handled on a
case-by-case basis — under these circumstances we have to consider
hardship issues , whether or not RV' s will be housed at the location and
thus hooked up to the utilities and whether or not contractors will be using
the utilities at the location . Consideration will be made for a time period of
up to 6 months .
• We will begin processing shut offs on October 19 , 2004 . However,
shutoffs will only be processed for customers with more than two past due
invoices (thus meaning that they were already past due before the
hurricanes )
