Crain : <br /> As you are aware , Ardaman has been providing construction materials testing services forthe above <br /> referenced project. Prior to the start of the project, we provided a cost estimate to perform testing <br /> services based on estimates of the number of tests and man - hours that were determined using the <br /> project information that was available at the time . Upon completion of a project, the final cost for our <br /> services is a function of the number of tests and man -hours that were actually required during <br /> construction , including additional costs beyond what was originally estimated . Usually, we try to be <br /> slightly conservative with our estimate to prevent change orders and attempt to account for <br /> unforeseen changes in scope , additional items or delays that may occur during the course of <br /> construction , which inevitably occur given the nature of construction . <br /> Various unforeseen , relatively minor items required additional testing during the course of <br /> construction . It is our understanding that items (two road crossings , several in - ground stormwater <br /> collection structures and piping ) were added to this project and subsequently required testing <br /> services beyond what was included in our original estimate . Testing services associated with these <br /> additional items have resulted in our original estimate to be slightly exceeded . <br /> The final cost of our construction testing services forthe project is $ 6 , 527 . 00 , which is $ 827 . 00 more <br /> than our original estimate of $ 5 , 700 . 00 . Therefore , we are requesting a change order for the <br /> amount of $ 827 . 00 for the balance of the cost of our services for the project . <br /> We appreciate working with you and the County on this project and look forward to working with you <br /> on future projects .
