That the matter of providing driveways, <br />roadside drainage pipes and any other special items for the accomodation of property owners <br />abutting on the roadside are the sole responsibility of the abutting property owners, but <br />that no abutting property owner shall change or alter the roadside drainage ditches except <br />upon prior approval of the County Engineer. Any engineering, surveying, establishing levels <br />or other costs or expense in connection with an adjoining property owners work in the roadside <br />drainage ditches shall be done at the expense of the abutting property owner. <br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker, appeared before the Board and <br />gave her report for the Month of January, said report was ordered filed by the Clerk. <br />County Superintendent of Public Schools, J. A. Thompson, appeared before the Board <br />and suggested that the Commissioners require subdividersLof large tracts of land to set aside <br />and dedicate to the county a sufficient acreage for school sites. He further stated that <br />within the next year or two the school system would have to build either a new High School or <br />Junion High and would like for the County to dedicate such land. He was advised that the <br />county had sufficient land close to the present downtown school upon which said school could <br />be built, and they would consider the dedication by subdividers for future sites. <br />Mr. Ryall appeared before the Board with regard to a natural drainage ditch on U. S. p <br />�i <br />#1 between Wabasso and Vero Beach, which subject had been brought before the Board on several <br />other occasions. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner <br />McCullers and unanimously carried, the Board resolved that on the matter of the Lateral Ditch <br />for the drainage of the proposed new U. S. #1 just South of W abasso, that the State Road y <br />Department be advised that the County has made an inspection of this area and it is the opinionh <br />a <br />of the County that the present existing natural drain, lake and ditch should be used and main- <br />tained on its present alignment for any drainage of this particular area. And that the State <br />s <br />N <br />Road Department be requested to permit the adjoining property owners to dig, keep and maintain d <br />this drain for a distance of 466 feet East of the present U. S. #1 right of way. <br />Holly Jackson appeared before the Board and stated that he had bought the liquor <br />license of the old Kerf4y Juke and was abandoning the old building and putting up a new building, <br />but understood that in moving the license he would be restricted because of a resolution per- <br />taining to this area in March 1956, and therefore, would like to have said resolution amended <br />so that he would be able to open a bar in his new building. <br />Upon Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Mc - <br />Cullers and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br />R E S O L U T I O N -- North Gifford Road Liquor Sales <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, did <br />adopt a Resolution zoning the area surrounding the public school on the North Gifford Road in <br />Indian River County, Florida, with respect to the sale of alcoholic beverages and limiting the <br />location wherein a vendor's place of business licensed under the Beverage Laws of the State of <br />Florida may be permitted to operate; and, <br />0 <br />1 <br />1 <br />E <br />1 <br />• <br />1 <br />1 <br />E <br />
