M., Tuesday, May 6, 1958. <br />`;Present were Donald Macdonald, Chairman, D. B. McCullers, Jr.; Robert W. Graves; J. J. P. <br />;i, <br />Hamilton and W. C. Graves, Jr. Also present were Ed Schmucker, Road & Bridge Superintendent, <br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney and Katherine Morrison, Secretary. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made to the minutes <br />"Of April lst regular meeting. There were none and upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert <br />,Graves, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, the minutes were approved <br />i, as read. <br />Forrest McCullars, County Agent, appeared before the Board and requested a raise <br />llfor his Secretary and was informed that the budget would not stand the additional at this <br />�Itime, but would consider a raise in the next budget. Mr. McCullars also requested that his <br />office -be air-conditioned and was informed that at this time the Board did not have the money. <br />Sam Joyce, Sheriff appeared before the Board and stated there was a big hole over <br />on the jail property which is very deep and full of'water and he was afraid some child would <br />be drowned and requested that a fence be put around it. The Board asked Mr. Schmucker to <br />look the situation over and see whether or not the hole could be partially or wholly filled and <br />if not what it would cost to have afence put up. <br />Mr. Joyce stated he was putting a full time life guard on duty at Wabasso Beach and <br />would like to have a barricade constructed where cars enter and leave the beach South of the <br />^;bathhouse. Upon Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner <br />`,Robert Graves and unanimously carried, the Board instructed the Road & Bridge Superintendent <br />::to barricade this opening. <br />I <br />A delegation from Rosewood Elementary School headed by Dan Richardson appeared <br />pbefore the Board with regard to the paving and widening of 16th Street. Upon Motion made by <br />(Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Robert Graves and unanimously carried, <br />the Board agreed to give the P.T.A. members of Rosewood Elementary School 30 days in which <br />'to obtain as many right of ways along 16th Street as they could and at the end of that time <br />,those right of ways not obtained would go into condemnation. The Board requested the County <br />;!;,Engineer to look into the matter and see whether or not a bicycle route could be.put in <br />from Belmont Park to Clemans Avenue. <br />34,1 <br />3 <br />lF�' 'I e <br />
