D . B . G . #01DB-79-04-20-01 -1­103 <br /> Dear Ms . Boyette : <br /> Please consider this a request for a six (6 ) month time extension on the above referenced <br /> Community Development Block Grant project . This will extend the contract from January 28 , <br /> 2006 to July 28 , 2006 . <br /> Due to the hurricanes that have affected the County in the past two (2 ) years , the County has <br /> had difficulty in procuring contractors willing to bid on the CDBG construction projects . Most <br /> qualified contractors are busy with new construction or with hurricane repairs from last year' s <br /> storms . Now contractors are faced with repairs from Hurricane Wilma which hit a few weeks <br /> ago . <br /> While the original CDBG contract called for sixteen ( 16 ) homes to be rehabilitated or replaced , <br /> the County anticipates addressing twenty-five (25 ) homes under this program . As of this time , <br /> the County has completed work on twelve ( 12 ) homes . Construction on nine (9 ) other homes is <br /> underway and should be completed within 60 days . On the last four (4 ) additional homes , <br /> contracts were recently signed .
