Provide the mission statement and vision of your organization. <br /> Mission Statement- Offering a nurturing environment where youth and adults can develop <br /> their self-esteem and learn life survival skills. <br /> Vision Statement- Through dedication and a committed community, become an agency that <br /> is inspiring residents to grow by improving their employability skills, and fill them with a <br /> sense of self-worth and pride. <br /> 2. Provide a brief summary of your organization including areas of expertise, <br /> accomplishments, and population served. <br /> DBHCI is an after school tutorial program for low-income at risk youth within the Wabasso area. <br /> Out of a dire need for youth services. DHC was established in Sept. 2001 , and provides the <br /> following programs ; Girl Scouts, Girl ' s Club Computer Training, SBI program, homework <br /> tutoring, reading buddies/superstars, Kid' s Cafe, Dasie Baker' s (cooking class) and educational <br /> field trips. <br /> Accomplishments <br /> -Every third-grader passed 2006 FCAT (second year) <br /> - An overall 72% of improvement in youth grades this year <br /> - A "Kid' s Cafd " program sponsored by (food grant) ConAgra at DHC. The only one in Indian <br /> River County. <br /> -SBI class recognized at NYSE for their business performance skills <br /> Selected by Stein Mart' s parent company Dignity U Wear to receive new clothing for all youth <br /> in 2006 <br /> 4 <br />
