Provide the mission statement and vision of your organization. <br /> Mission Statement: Offering a nurturing environment where youth and adults can learn, dream <br /> and aspire by developing their self-esteem and learning life survival skills. <br /> Vision: Through a dedicated commitment from the community, become the agency that inspire <br /> youth and residents to grow by improving their employability skills, academic performance and <br /> filling them with a sense of self-worth and pride. <br /> 2. Provide a brief summary of your organization including areas of expertise, <br /> accomplishments, and population served. <br /> The Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center was established on September 5, 2001 in memory of Dasie <br /> Bridgewater (a lifelong resident of Wabasso). Ms. Bridgewater gave back to the community by <br /> providing food, clothing and shelter to those in need. The Center is committed to providing a <br /> sense of community pride for Wabasso youth and residents by providing the youth a safe place to <br /> live and learn. The Center is dedicated to providing Indian River County residents with the <br /> opportunity to acquire educational and marketable employment skills, with special emphasis on <br /> an after school program specially designed for children 5 to 18. The areas of expertise assigned <br /> to the after school program include: <br /> • After-School Tutoring/Summer Reading-Recreational Program <br /> • Computer Training <br /> • Interpersonal Skills Development (etiquette, professional demeanor, leadership skills) <br /> • Peer Shadowing/Mentoring <br /> • Reading Buddies Club <br /> • Art classes <br /> • School of Business College Program <br /> • Basic financial skills/Dasieville Mall <br /> • Life Skills Training program (culinary classes, baking classes) <br /> • Girl Scouts/Girls Club <br /> • Kids Cafe (culinary skills) <br /> • Young Professionals (business shadowing and social skills) <br /> • Kidz Kloset <br /> The population to be served includes all of the Wabasso community which is North Indian River <br /> County. <br /> 3 <br />
