How will the program be accessible to target population (i.e., location, transportation,
hours of operation) ?
The key factor in reaching the clients of the Youth Volunteer Corps is through the efforts of the
Team Leaders . Each team leader is assigned to a number of schools and specific projects. They
are responsible for recruiting, marketing, and "reaching out" to the community to ensure
participation and interest. Each team leader has a regional area to saturate with flyers, calendars,
sign up sheets, and announcements. They are also responsible for arranging transportation, if
needed, organizing car pools, recruiting adult volunteers for transport and supervisory purposes,
and for calling and following up on those who didn't make it to a project.
There is a complex and intricate system of molding many forms of communication together to
bring a project to a successful level . This system of "outreach" is significantly dependant on the
dedication and efficiency of the YVC staff and the Team Leaders promoting the projects.
Now that YVC has its own facility it will not only provide community service projects almost
every day during the year, but it will also be open every day after school for facility based
programming as well.
6
