FIELD NO . <br /> GENERAL <br /> Properly operated and maintained chemigation infrastructure (CI) is an asset to your farm The CI was <br /> designed to facilitate the application of fertilizers and other appropriate chemicals through a non-drip <br /> type microuTigation system. <br /> The estimated life span of the CI is at least 5 (five) years . The life of this equipment can be assured <br /> and usually increased by developing and carrying out a good operation and maintenance program. <br /> This practice will require you to perform periodic operations to maintain satisfactory performance. <br /> Here are some recommendations to help you develop a good operation and maintenance program. <br /> GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> • Maintain all pumps, storage tanks, piping, valves, and other related equipment in good operating <br /> condition. <br /> • Check to make sure that all connections are water tight and all valves are working properly. <br /> • Follow manufacturer recommendations in the proper use and maintenance of the Cl . <br /> INSPECTIONS <br /> The Cl should be inspected routinely to make sure it is functioning properly. Anything needing <br /> maintenance should be repaired immediately. <br /> VIOLATIONS <br /> Failure to carry out the operation and maintenance required for the Cl may result in the reimbursement <br /> of the FDACS cost share dollars used to purchase it. <br /> CONTACT THE INDIAN RIVER SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT FOR <br /> ADDITIONAL TECBNICAL ASSISTANCE YOU MAY NEED FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS <br /> OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PLAN. <br /> Form date January 2003 <br />
