SECTION 01541 r" <br /> PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND PROPERTY <br /> 6 . Explore ahead of trenching and excavation work and uncover all obstructing <br /> underground structures sufficiently to determine their location , to prevent <br /> damage to them and to prevent interruption of the services which such <br /> structures provide . If CONTRACTOR damages an underground structure , <br /> restore it to original condition at CONTRACTOR' s expense . <br /> 7 . Necessary changes in the location of the Work may be made by <br /> ENGINEER , to avoid unanticipated underground structures . <br /> 8 . If permanent relocation of an underground structure or other subsurface <br /> facility is required and is not otherwise provided for in the Contract <br /> Documents , ENGINEER will direct CONTRACTOR in writing to perform the <br /> Work , which shall be paid for under the provisions of Article 11 of the <br /> General Conditions . .. <br /> B . Surface Structures : <br /> 1 . Surface structures are defined as structures or facilities above the ground .r <br /> surface . Included with such structures are their foundations and any <br /> extension below the surface . Surface structures include , but are not limited <br /> to , buildings , tanks , walls , bridges , roads , dams , channels , open drainage , •► <br /> piping , poles , wires , posts , signs , markers , curbs , walks and all other facil . <br /> ities that are visible above the ground surface . <br /> C , Protection of Underground and Surface Structures : <br /> 1 . Sustain in their places and protect from direct or indirect injury , all <br /> underground and surface structures located within or adjacent to the limits <br /> of the Work . Such sustaining and supporting shall be done carefully , and <br /> as required by the party owning or controlling such structure . Before <br /> proceeding with the work of sustaining and supporting such structure , <br /> satisfy the ENGINEER that the methods and procedures to be used have <br /> been approved by the party owning same . <br /> 2 . Assume all risks attending the presence or proximity of all underground and <br /> surface structures within or adjacent to the limits of the Work . <br /> CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for all damage and expense for direct <br /> or indirect injury caused by its Work to any structure . CONTRACTOR shall <br /> repair immediately all damage caused by his work , to the satisfaction of the <br /> OWNER of the damaged structure . <br /> .r <br /> D .
