MEHTA, P.E., INTERIM <br /> SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICAGING DIRECTOR r�I yr <br /> SUBJECT: CONTRACT FOR YARD/WOOD WASTE PROCESSING <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Consolidated Resource Recovery, Inc. (CRR) has had a contract with the City of St. Cloud for <br /> Yazd waste processing which <br /> addendum commenced on October 2, 1997 and was extended by a first <br /> through September 30, 2005 and a second addendum through September 30, 2007. <br /> On September 11 , 2003 the SWDD Chairman approved piggybacking the contract between CRR <br /> and the City of St. Cloud; this contract will end September 30, 2007. As the Indian River County <br /> Landfill receives approximately 805000 tons of vegetative waste annually, it is imperative that a <br /> Yard waste processor be under contract with SWDD. <br /> Effective January 23, 2007 CRR has entered into an agreement with Seminole County vegetative wood waste processing (RFP600083-06/GMG) <br /> and shall run for a period three (3) <br /> to a and, o the sole option of the COUNTY, may be renewed for two (2) successive periods not <br /> to exceed one (1) year each. CRR is prepared to remain f site and continue yard waste <br /> Processing at the Indian River County Landfill allowing SWDD to piggyback Seminole County's <br /> Contract. <br /> SWDD is presently paying $ 17. 70 per ton for yard waste processing/disposal off site and $ 13 .36 <br /> Per ton for yard waste processing/on site disposal. Current rates will be $ 11 -50 per to for y <br /> disposal increases by $ 1ard <br /> . 80 per ton <br /> waste processing and $8. 00 per ton for yard waste disposal off-site. Th, howeversite <br /> , would decrease by e total cost for off the on site disposal cost site <br /> Per ton from $ 13 .36 per ton to the $ 11 . 50 per ton which is the cost for processing the Yazd waste. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that SWDD authorize the Chairman to executive the attached Rider <br /> Agreement with Consolidated Resource Recover in order to piggyback Seminole County's yard <br /> Waste Contract.
