A letter was presented to the Board from General Development Corporation <br />giving their consent to the use of fire hydrants and water to the fire <br />Departments for the purpose of extinguishing :sires or protecting property <br />from fires, Upon Motion made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Comm- <br />issioner Hamilton and unanimously carried, it was requested that a copy of <br />this letter be filed with the Franchise and copies forwardQlto the various <br />fire departments in the County. <br />Along this same line, Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded <br />by Commissioner Macdonald and carried, requesting the County Engineer <br />submit a workable plan for the placing of fire hydrants in future franchise <br />areas and that future franchises contain a clause making it mandatory that <br />fire hydrants be placed in such areas. <br />The County Attorney stated that final appraisals have been received <br />from the Jewett Appraisal Service on U. S. iii properties, and that the <br />County has obtained rights of way through all but about ninety parcels. <br />A list was presented of the confederate Pensioners in Indian River <br />County, and upon Motion made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Conuu- <br />issioner McCullers and unanimously carried, the following Confederate <br />Pension was approved: <br />Mrs. Annie Ruffner, R.F.D. #1, Sebastian, Florida <br />The Chairman read a letter from Senator Paul G. Koger� stating that <br />Indian River County was included in those Counties being able to apply for <br />production.emergency loans. <br />A letter was read from the Department of Veterans' Affairs requestinb <br />that our Service Officer be allowed to attend the Annual State -Wide Service <br />Officer's School and Conference to be held May 2nd through May 7th in Daytona. <br />Upon Motion made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Mac- <br />donald and carried, the Board granted permission for Mr. Roberts to so <br />attend. <br />A letter was read from the Roseland's Womans Club thanking the Board <br />for the material for a new roof on their Community Building. <br />Verdict's of Coroner's Juries in the death of Jack & Helen Houston <br />were received and upon Motion made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded"by <br />Commissioner Macdonald and carried, were ordered filed. <br />A letter was read from Law's Moving and Storage and ordered filed. <br />.A`letter was read from A.K. 'Al" Forney, withdrawing as a candidate <br />on the Republican ticket for County Commissioner District #5. <br />
