our Attorney prepare the deed, so this matter might be closed. <br />Another letter was received from the Board of Public Instruction requesting <br />a joint meeting with the Board of County Commissioners and the County Tax <br />Assessor. The Board set a date at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24th in the School <br />Board meeting Room and requested the Clerk notify them. <br />A letter was received from Southern Gulf Utilities, Inc., together with <br />a letter from Pan American Surety Company requesting an extension of the bond <br />for Dixie Garden, Unit #3. Upon Motion made by Commissioner McCullers, <br />seconded by Commissioner Hamilton andcarried, an extension was granted until <br />May 4, 1961. <br />The County Engineer stated that we needed a 15 foot right of way on 12th <br />Street and U.S. #1 from Baumke. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Waddell, <br />seconded by- Commissioner McCullers, and carried, the Board approved payment <br />for this right of way up to but not more then $450.00. <br />The County Engineer stated that Hobart Bros. had made application to the <br />Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund to build facilities for a boat dock <br />and to dredge a channel in the Indian River and this would create about S <br />small islands. After some discussion in the matter and upon Motion made by <br />Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the <br />Board authorized the Clerk to write a letter to the Internal Improvement Fund <br />with a copy of the letter to Corp of Engineers, stating that the bulkheading <br />would be within the limits of our Bulkhead Law, but we would, however, prefer <br />that the spoil from dredging the channel be placed on existing islands rather <br />creating additional spoil islands as requested by Hobart Brothers. <br />The County Engineer stated he had prepared a bid notice to advertise to <br />buy radio equipment. .Upon Motion made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by <br />Commissioner Waddell, and carried, the Board authorized said notice be adver- <br />tised for June 7th. <br />Mr. James Kelly and his Attorney, Charles Sullivan appeared.before the <br />Board and were informed that the re -zoning hearing had been held at 9:00 o'clock <br />as advertised. Mr. Sullivan said they would like to be heard, even though they <br />were late. The Board.informed Mr. Sullivan that he had not sent word that he <br />would be late for the hearing, that they had denied the re -zoning and he would <br />have ,to make a new application for a re -zoning of the property. <br />
