SECTION 01400 - QUALITY CONTROL <br /> PART1 - GENERAL <br /> 1 .01 GENERAL : <br /> The work of this section includes Quality Assurance; and the independent <br /> laboratory and field sampling, testing, inspections, supervision and reports of those <br /> materials required by the various sections of these specifications. Tests and inspections <br /> shall be performed by a recognized Testing Laboratory selected by the Contractor and <br /> approved by the Architect. <br /> 1 .02 COOPERATION: <br /> A. Testing Laboratory shall cooperate with all trades whose work affects or is affected <br /> by the tests and inspections . <br /> B . Contractor shall cooperate with and provide assistance necessary in taking samples, <br /> making field tests and making inspections, and he shall schedule and coordinate his <br /> work to hold costs of tests and inspections to a reasonable minimum . <br /> 1 .03 PAYMENTS : <br /> A . Costs for tests and inspections shall be incurred by the Contractor. <br /> B . If the results of any test or inspection indicates failure to meet the specified <br /> requirements, the Contractor shall be responsible for the costs of retesting or <br /> reinspection. <br /> C. Marmer of Work: When in the opinion of the Architect, tests or inspections are <br /> required because of the manner in which the Contractor does his work, such as <br /> questionable quality of materials and/or workmanship, questionable sources of <br /> material, substitution of materials or sources of same for those previously accepted, <br /> or failure or material to comply with specification or plan requirements ; the costs <br /> for such tests or inspections shall be incurred by the Contractor. <br /> D . Should the Contractor refuse to perform such tests, the direct cost of testing, <br /> incurred by the Owner, shall be deducted from the Contract sum for construction. <br /> 1 .04 DEFECTIVE MATERIALS : <br /> The Architect reserves the right to demand for test or special examination any material or <br /> part thereof to insure compliance with the specification and he may reject any material or <br /> part judged defective as a result of such tests and the Contractor shall replace such <br /> 1 defective material or part with material or part that does comply with the specifications at <br /> no additional expense to the Owner. <br /> 01400-1 <br />
