Several members of the Board stated they were going to attend the <br />inauguration of the Governor, therefore, would not be here for the <br />regular meeting on January 3rd. It was decided to hold a special <br />meeting at 8:oo o'clock A. M. January 6th, and the regular meetings <br />would be held on January 10th and 24th. <br />The Board congratulated their Attorney, Sherman N. Smith, Jr. on <br />his appointment by the Governor elect, Farris Bryant, to the Chairmanship <br />of the Milk Commission. <br />A letter was read from the Board of Public Instruction requesting <br />a joint meeting of the County Commissioners, the School Board Committee, <br />and the several others selected to serve on the committee for bettering <br />teachers salaries, on January 12th. <br />send notices to all members. <br />The Deputy Clerk was requested to <br />A colored man appeared before the Board and asked if he could buy <br />the hot water heater in the Hewitt Apartment Building. Motion was made <br />by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and carried,, <br />to sell the heater for $50.00. <br />The County Engineer requested tentative approval on a subdivision <br />to be known as Ponderosa Estates without a park area. Motion was made <br />by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and carried, <br />that the Plat of Ponderosa Estates be tentatively approved with no <br />park area. <br />' The County Engineer stated he had received a letter from the <br />State Road Department wherein Mr. Bryon T. Cooksey had requested a <br />release of the Murphy Act reservation on a section of Old U.S.#1 <br />in Sebastian. After some discussion in the matter Motion was made <br />by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and carried, <br />that the County Engineer request the State Road Department to retain <br />right of way for 50 feet either side of the centerline of this road. <br />The County Engineer stated that Frank Zorc had purchased some <br />property on 12th Street for which we wanted a right of way. Motion was <br />made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and <br />carried, that the Engineer offer Mr. Zorc 375 loads of marl in eechange <br />for a 40 foot right of way.on 12th Street. <br />
