' G . Where fill material is intended to be installed adjacent to existing vegetation that is <br /> intended to remain natural , water bodies , etc . , install silt fencing in addition to the <br /> protective barriers . <br /> H . Coordinate Work in this Section with requirements of other sections herein . <br /> 1 . 4 PROTECTION OF EXISTING STRUCTURES <br /> ' A . Underground Structures : <br /> 1 . Underground structures are defined to include , but not be limited to , all sewer, <br /> water, gas , and other piping , and manholes , chambers , electrical conduits , <br /> ' tunnels and other existing subsurface work located within or adjacent to the <br /> limits of the Work . <br /> 2 . All underground structures known to ENGINEER except service connections <br /> for water, sewer, electric , and telephone are shown . This information is shown <br /> for the assistance of CONTRACTOR in accordance with the best information <br /> available , but is not guaranteed to be correct or complete . The existing utilities <br /> shown on the Contract Drawings are located according to the information <br /> available to the ENGINEER at the time the Drawings were prepared and have <br /> not been independently verified bythe OWNER orthe ENGINEER . Guarantee <br /> is not made that all existing underground utilities are shown or that the <br /> locations of those shown are accurate . The locations shown are for bidding <br /> purposes only . Finding the actual location of any existing utilities is the <br /> ' CONTRACTOR's responsibility and shall be done before it commences any <br /> work in the vicinity . Furthermore , the CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible <br /> for any and all damages that might be occasioned by the CONTRACTOR'S <br /> failure to exactly locate and preserve any and all underground utilities . The <br /> OWNER or ENGINEER will assume no liability for any damages sustained or <br /> costs incurred because of the CONTRACTOR's operations in the vicinity of <br /> ' existing utilities or structures , nor for temporary bracing and shoring of same . <br /> If it is necessary to shore , brace , or swing a utility , contact the utility company <br /> or department affected and obtain their permission regarding the method to <br /> use for such work . <br /> 3 . Contact the various utility companies which may have buried or aerial utilities <br /> ' within or near the construction area before commencing work . Provide 48 <br /> hours minimum notice to all utility companies prior to beginning construction . <br /> A list of the utility companies which the CONTRACTOR MUST call before <br /> commencing work is provided below. This list serves as a guide only and is <br /> not intended to limit the utility companies which the CONTRACTOR may wish <br /> to notify. <br /> ' a .
