' - SECTION 01543 <br /> MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC <br /> 1 . 1 GENERAL <br /> A . The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for implementation of a Traffic Control <br /> System in accordance with M . U . T. C . D . , Part IV and Florida Department of <br /> Transportation Roadway and Traffic Design Standards Index No . 600 series . <br /> Submit a Traffic Control plan at the Preconstruction Conference for review and <br /> acceptance by the OWNER . <br /> B . Supply a Certified Worksite Traffic Supervisor for the duration of the project who <br /> has been trained and certified by the "American Traffic Safety <br /> ' Service/Association . " Give the name and telephone number of the supervisor to <br /> the OWNER and ENGINEER prior to start of construction . <br /> C . No additional compensation shall be made for compliance with these <br /> requirements . <br /> D . Keep all streets and trafficways open for the passage of traffic and pedestrians <br /> during the construction period unless otherwise approved by the ENGINEER or <br /> authority having jurisdiction over same . <br /> E . When required to cross , obstruct or temporarily close a street or trafficway, <br /> provide and maintain suitable bridges , detours or other approved temporary <br /> ' facilities expedient for the accommodation of traffic . Give no less than 72 hours <br /> notice in advance of the time to close a street or trafficway or as may be <br /> otherwise provided in the Traffic Control Plan . Closings shall be effected only <br /> during non - peak traffic periods as directed by the City Traffic Engineer. Closings <br /> shall remain in effect for the shortest time practical , and passage shall be <br /> restored immediately after completion of backfill and temporary paving or <br /> bridging . If required , obtain a permit or permits from the duly constituted public <br /> authority having jurisdiction over the thoroughfare . <br /> F . Give the required advance notice of proposed operations to the fire and police <br /> departments . <br /> ' G . Give no less than 72 hours notice to owners or tenants of private property who <br /> may be affected by operations . <br /> E .
