FJG K 7 P E <br />u , <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1961 <br />The Board of County Commissioners'of Indian River County, met at <br />the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida in a regular meeting held at 9:00 <br />o'clock A.M., Tuesday, February 7, 1961. All members were present. Also <br />present were Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney for the Board, Ed Schmucker, <br />County Engineer and Katherine Morrison, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any corrections or additions to <br />be made to the minutes of January 6, 10th and 24th. There were none and <br />upon Motion made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Mc- <br />Cullers and unanimously carried, the minutes were approved as read. <br />Jeannette Lier appeared before the Board and requested that all <br />County Roads in Government Lot 7 be abandoned except A -1-A as they have <br />not been used in years. After some discussion in the matter, Motion was <br />made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and <br />carried, that public hearing be held to abandon all county roads in <br />Government Lot 7 except A -1-A. <br />The Chairman asked the County Engineer for a report on sidewalks <br />leading <br />to have <br />to Rosewood School. <br />the approval of the <br />they will furnish the labor <br />concrete and culverts for a <br />The County Engineer stated he would like <br />Board to make an offer to the City that if <br />and forms that the County will furnish the' <br />sidewalk. He further stated that the sidewalk <br />would only be from 12 to 18 inches from the existing payment. Motion was <br />made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and <br />unanimously carried; approving making such an offer to the City and furtnel' <br />that the County Engineer contact the State Road Department for their <br />approval for the location of the sidewalks. <br />The. County Engineer stated that on the matter of the ditch in Roseland <br />he had not obtained anything as yet from the Carter Engineering Firm as <br />to the results of their survey in that area as yet, but as soon as he <br />did would report the results to the Board. <br />Sam Joyce, Sheriff appeared before the Board and requested approval' - <br />to open a door into the parole office'from his office. The Board stated <br />they would turn this over to the Contractor, who is presently working on <br />the North End of the Courthouse. <br />
