ARTICLE 6 <br /> UNION ACTIVITY <br /> 6 . 01 The Employer and the Union acknowledge that the right of employees to work shall not be <br /> deprived or abridged on account of membership, non-membership, participation, or non- <br /> participation in any Union or organization. <br /> 6 . 02 The Union President or Secretary, or alternate, shall be allowed up to three (3) weeks time <br /> off to attend a union seminar, conference or convention. The time off shall be without pay <br /> and shall be considered leave of absence unless a standby arrangement has been provided. <br /> 6 .03 The Fair Chairman shall be allowed up to ten ( 10) calendar days off during the Fire Fighters' <br /> County Fair. Such time off shall be authorized at the discretion of the Fire Chief. The time <br /> off shall be without pay and shall be considered leave of absence unless a standby <br /> arrangement has been provided. Such leave will be considered as time worked for the <br /> purpose of seniority accrual and other fringe benefits. <br /> 6.04 Up to three (3 ) members of the Union's Executive Board shall be allowed time off with pay, <br /> but without overtime, for all scheduled bargaining meetings between the Union and the <br /> Employer. The Union ' s Executive Board shall be composed of the Union President, First <br /> and Second Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer and their alternate. Such time off will <br /> only be allowed when working hours of the Employee conflict with bargaining unit <br /> negotiations. <br /> 6. 05 By mutual agreement of the Employer and the Union, there is hereby established a Joint <br /> Labor-Management Committee, which shall consist of not more than two (2) members <br /> designated by the Union and two (2) members designated by the Fire Chief. The Union <br /> Committee membership shall consist of persons from within the position classification <br /> covered by this agreement, and the management membership shall consist of persons within <br /> the Department, but outside the bargaining unit as herein defined.
