evidence of malingering or the abuse of this benefit will constitute grounds for <br /> prompt dismissal or disciplinary action by the Fire Chief. <br /> 26. 02 EARNING OF MEDICAL LEAVE <br /> An employee on medical leave for more than fifteen ( 15) consecutive working days shall not <br /> accrue medical leave for that period of time. <br /> 26.03 ADDITIONAL MEDICAL LEAVE <br /> In deserving cases additional medical leave may be granted with the Fire Chiefs approval. <br /> 26 . 04 ACCRUAL <br /> Medical leave may be accumulated for a total of no more than one hundred ( 100) days at the <br /> employee's anniversary date. <br /> 26 . 05 USE OF MEDICAL LEAVE <br /> MEDICAL LEAVE MAY BE GRANTED FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES : <br /> A. Personal injury, pregnancy or illness not connected with work. <br /> Be Medical, dental, optical or chiropractic examination or treatment. (Refer to <br /> "D" for members of employee's family.) <br /> C . Exposure to a contagious disease which would endanger others. <br /> D . Illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who lives permanently <br /> in the same domicile which requires the personal care and attention of the <br /> employee . No more than five (5 ) working days a year may be taken for this <br /> purpose without approval of the Fire Chief (see definition of immediate family <br /> in Article 24) . <br /> E. Events in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 . <br /> 27 <br />
