ARTICLE 27 <br /> INSURANCE BENEFITS <br /> 27 . 01 The County shall provide insurance for all bargaining unit employees and their dependents in <br /> the same manner as the County ' s general non-bargaining unit employees , including the <br /> retiree health insurance subsidy , hospitalization, and medical insurance . <br /> 27 . 02 The County shall maintain in full force and effect, and pay all premiums for, a life insurance <br /> policy on the life of each employee , payable to a beneficiary designated by the respective <br /> insured employee . Such life insurance policy shall be based on an amount equal to the <br /> employee ' s annual salary to the nearest high thousand as of the month following the payroll <br /> change . <br /> 27 . 03 Separation shall be effective as of the date of death . All compensation and benefits due to <br /> the employee as of the effective date of separation shall be paid to the beneficiary , surviving <br /> spouse , or estate of the employee as determined by law or by executed forms in the <br /> employee ' s personnel folder . <br />
