ARTICLE 34 SALARIES 34 . 01 A . For Fiscal Year 2005 - 2006 , bargaining unit employees will be provided wages in accordance with the FY 2005 - 2006 Pay Plan, as follows . On October 1 , 2005 , employees in steps A through D of the FY 2004 -2005 Pay Plan will be placed in corresponding steps 1 through 4 of the FY 2005 -2006 Pay Plan, and will proceed to the next step on their anniversary dates . Employees in step E of the FY 2004 -2005 Pay Plan will be placed in corresponding step 5 of the FY 2005 - 2006 Pay Plan on October 1 , 2005 , and will proceed to the next step on April 1 , 2006 . Employees in step L 10 of the FY 2004 -2005 Pay Plan, except as described below, will be placed in step 6 of the FY 2005 -2006 Pay Plan on October 1 , 2005 , and will proceed to step 7 , on April 1 , 2006 . Employees in step L10 of the FY 2004- 2005 Pay Plan who will reach 15 years of service prior to October 1 , 2006 will be placed into step 7 on October 1 , 2005 , and will proceed to step 8 on April 1 , 2006 . Employees in step L 15 of the FY 2004 - 2005 Pay Plan will be placed in step 8 of the FY 2005 - 2006 Pay Plan on October 1 , 2005 , and will proceed to step 9 on April 1 , 2006 . Each of the step progressions described above shall be contingent upon the employee receiving an overall performance review rating of at least "meets standards " on the employee ' s last performance review. Any step moves after the expiration of this Agreement shall be subject to collective bargaining . B . Non- Certified new hires shall be placed in the firefighter trainee step (X- 02 ) for the probationary period . Upon completion of the probationary period the certified firefighter shall be placed in Step 1 of the firefighter range (X- 03 ) . C . Certified new hires shall be placed in Step A of the firefighters range (X- 03 ) . After initial placement in the pay plan, step advancement shall commence on the first day of the pay period nearest to the anniversary date .
