All warranty and survival provisions and requirements will apply to replanted <br /> planting units . <br /> 43 . 14. 5 Initial Planting Unit Survival. Planting units that do not survive for a minimum of <br /> 10 days after installation will be rejected and will not be considered eligible for <br /> payment. New, within-specification, planting units will be installed by the <br /> CONTRACTOR in the areas that do not survive for a minimum of 10 days. <br /> CONTRACTOR will be responsible for installing the new replacement planting units <br /> within 5 days of notification by the COUNTY that an area of initial planting units did <br /> not survive for 10 days. The replacement planting units will be considered eligible <br /> for payment as "original" planting units only after they have survived a minimum of <br /> 10 days from installation. <br /> 43 . 15 Maintenance. The CONTRACTOR shall maintain and irrigate all plantings, starting at the <br /> time of plant installation or relocation, and continuing for 90 calendar days after the <br /> COUNTY has provided written acceptance of the vegetation work. In addition to irrigation, <br /> maintenance shall include all weeding, cultivation, fertilization, spraying, adjustment of <br /> bracing, staking or pruning necessary to keep plants in a healthy and vigorous growing <br /> condition. At the end of the CONTRACTOR'S maintenance period, the CONTRACTOR <br /> shall provide the COUNTY with written instructions as to the maintenance activities (i.e. , <br /> irrigation, control of exotic/non-native plants) that will be required to maintain the <br /> plantings in a healthy growing condition. <br /> 43 . 16 Environmental Permits and Turtle Protection. The CONTRACTOR shall comply with all <br /> marine turtle protection requirements as specified by the permits. <br /> 44. RESTORATION OF ACCESS AND STAGING AREAS <br /> The CONTRACTOR shall submit a Construction Access and Staging Area Restoration <br /> Plan to the COUNTY and ENGINEER for review and approval prior to the Pre- <br /> Construction Meeting. The Plan shall address CONTRACTOR measures to protect the <br /> beach access areas designated in the Contract Drawings, and shall propose the measure of <br /> restoration at each designated access to meet or exceed the lines, grades and extent of <br /> beach/dune vegetation which are in place at the time of CONTRACTOR mobilization to <br /> the Project Site. All provisions in Sections 43 . 1 , 43 .3 , 43 .4 through 43 .9, and 43 . 12 <br /> through 43 . 16 shall apply to the restoration of the Construction Access Areas designated in <br /> the Contract Drawings. The CONTRACTOR shall additionally propose measures to limit <br /> damage to the pavement, striping, signage and all improvements present in the <br /> Construction Staging Area designated in the vicinity of R-3 . 5. CONTRACTOR shall <br /> restore the pavement to an equal or better condition upon completion of the work and <br /> demobilization of equipment, facilities, vehicles, and crew from the work area. <br /> - All <br /> restoration work shall be included in the Site Restoration Bid Item. <br /> TECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS _ TS-48 <br />
