Florida Steel Co rpprat%u <br />Base Bid - 10 Spans ------•--* <br />Alternate Bid - 20 Spans ------ <br />For each additional "E" Bax add <br />Net 30 ,Days <br />Virginal Steel Company - Richmond, <br />Base Bid - 10 Spans <br />Alternate Bid - 20 Spans <br />For additional E Bars add <br />Terms 1/2 of 11 ten days <br />• <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by'Commissioner <br />Macdonald and unanimously carried, that the low bid for 20 spans -of Steel <br />by Virginia Steel Company, be accepted. <br />A letter was received from R. E. Turlington in which he tendered <br />his resignation as a member of the Indian River County Variance Board. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />Waddell and carried,,that the resignation of Mr. Turlington be accepted <br />with regret. <br />Commissioner Macdonald made a motion to appoint Mr. Lester Hanshaw <br />of Roseland in Mr. Turlington's place as a member of the Variance. Comm- <br />issioner Waddell seconded the motion which was unanimously carried. <br />Mr. Padrick of St. Lucie County was in stating that -he has been <br />operating a garbage disposal service in the South End of the County and <br />would like to obtain a franchise.' The Board told him to see his attorney <br />and present his petition for a franchise at the next meeting. <br />Joe Earman, Director of Civil Defense appeared before the Board and <br />stated that the Governor had directed each department, agency, commission, <br />etc. to make appropriate plans for the protection of people, equipment and <br />supplies, and suggested that all public officials and supervisory employees <br />should take the Civil Defense Personal Survival Course. He stated that <br />he has set up a course for county personnel beginning September 25th. The <br />Board requested the Deputy Clerk notify each officer and personnel to take <br />the course. <br />The Attorney for the Board stated that he had looked into the matter <br />of a custodian for the dump and could see no reason why the Board could <br />not appoint someone. The Board requested the Attorney draw up such a <br />contract. <br />
