Box 1047 <br /> St. Augustine, FL 32085-1047 <br /> RE: U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - Community <br /> Development Block Grants/ Neighborhood Revitalization - Indian River <br /> County, New Gifford Fire Station - Gifford, Indian River County, Florida. <br /> SAI # FL200704253293C <br /> Dear Mr. Fox: <br /> The Florida State Clearinghouse, pursuant to Presidential Executive Order 12372, <br /> Gubernatorial Executive Order 95-359, the Coastal Zone Management Act, 16 U.S.C. <br /> §§ 1451-1464, as amended, and the National Environmental Policy Act, 42 U.S.C. §§ <br /> 4321, 4331-4335, 4341-4347, as amended, has coordinated a review of the referenced <br /> grant application. <br /> The Florida Department of State (DOS) notes that the proposed undertaking will have <br /> no effect on historic properties, provided the applicant agrees to make contingency <br /> plans in case fortuitous finds or unanticipated discoveries are uncovered during <br /> ground disturbing activities. If any prehistoric or historic artifacts are encountered <br /> during construction, all ground disturbing activities should cease and the applicant <br /> should contact the DOS Division of Historical Resources, Review and Compliance <br /> Section at (850) 245-6333 for further instructions . In the event that unmarked human <br /> remains are encountered, all work shall stop immediately and the proper authorities <br /> notified in accordance with Section 872.05, Florida Statutes. Please refer to the enclosed <br /> DOS letter for additional information. <br /> Based on the information contained in the application for federal assistance and the <br /> enclosed state agency comments, the state has no objections to the allocation of federal <br /> funds for the subject project and, therefore, the funding award is consistent with the <br /> Florida Coastal Management Program (FCMP) . The applicant must, however, address <br /> the concerns identified by our reviewing agencies prior to project implementation. <br /> "More Protection.
