The State Historic Preservation Officer is to advise and assist <br /> federal agencies and applicants when identifying historic properties, assessing effects to historic <br /> properties, and considering alternatives to avoid or minimize adverse effects to such properties . <br /> Based on the information provided, it is the opinion of this office that the proposed undertaking <br /> will have no effect on historic properties, provided that the applicant makes contingency plans in <br /> the case of fortuitous finds or unexpected discoveries during ground disturbing activities on the <br /> property: <br /> • If prehistoric or historic artifacts, such as pottery or ceramics, projectile points, dugout <br /> canoes, metal implements, historic building materials, or any other physical remains that <br /> could be associated with early Native American, early European, or American settlement <br /> are encountered at any time within the project site area, the permitted project shall cease <br /> all activities involving subsurface disturbance in the immediate vicinity of such <br /> discoveries.
