TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1962 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian.River County, met <br />at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, in a regular meeting held at <br />8:00 o'clock, A. M., Tuesday, February 6, 1962. All members were <br />present. Also present were Ed Schmucker, County Engineer; John Gould, <br />Attorney, Al Webber and Freda Wright, Deputy Clerks. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be <br />made to the minutes of January 9 and 23. Commissioner Hamilton asked <br />that the minutes of January 23 be changed to show that he made the <br />motion pertaining to the Russell Hurst property. Upon Motion made by <br />Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously <br />carried, the Minutes of January 9 were approved as read and the Minutes <br />of January 23 as amended were approved as read. <br />Mr. Dave Albrecht appeared before the Board and asked for county <br />assistance and equipment for the extention of 13th and 14th avenues. <br />After some discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded <br />by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, that the county parti- <br />cipate in the development of the avenues and the work schedule to be con- <br />trolled by the County and City Engineers. <br />Mr. Ben Thompson appeared before the Board with regard to payroll <br />deductions for the United Fund drive. After considerable discussion, <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton <br />and unanimously carried, that payroll deductions for county employees are <br />authorized on a voluntary basis and that if at any time control for these <br />deductions add costs to county operations, it should be reported to the <br />Board. Deductions from employees of the Fee Officers will have to be <br />approved by them individually. <br />Mr. Harlow G. Fredrick, Jr. and Mr. Robert W. Parker, representing <br />a group of citrus growers, appeared before the Board and asked if something <br />could be done to open the old Fellsmere Cross State Road to Kenansville. <br />After hearing the reasons for the request and upon Motion made by Commis- <br />sioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and uanimously carried, <br />Ed Schmucker, County Engineer, was requested to make a survey of this <br />A �K <br />�.rl� A,:ES�k <br />
