The Department will rely heavily on the GIS Director and <br /> the recommended GIS Specialist and GIS Technician in the Engineering division for data <br /> creation and maintenance )see GIS Data Layers below for more information ) . <br /> The Indian River County Public Works Department will greatly benefit from a routing <br /> application that allows staff to compute the most efficient route for various Public Works <br /> related tasks , such as road and ditch maintenance, signal marking operations , and <br /> inspections , taking into account geography, predetermined stops , and capacity. This <br /> software can also generate daily routing manifests for each employee to follow .
