Early Learning Coalition <br /> Martin , St. Lucie, Indian River & Okeechobee Counties <br /> RECOMMENDED : $30,000 <br /> Requested : $30 ,000 <br /> Description : The Early Learning Coalition is that entity tasked to provide subsidized childcare <br /> from State and Federal dollars (TANF and CCPO ) . The community must donate a "match" of 6% <br /> in order to receive these funds . This pays a childcare subsidy for the working poor, whose income <br /> is below the 150% poverty level ; which covers a different income classification of families than <br /> those of Childcare Resources . <br /> • Taxonomy Definition : NL-300 . 150 Childcare Subsidies . <br /> • Focus Areas Addressed : Childcare Access <br /> • Number of children to be served : 478 <br /> Exchange Club Castle <br /> Safe Families <br /> RECOMMENDED : $47,000 <br /> Requested : $47 , 080 <br /> Description : In-home parental support and education program ; upon receiving referral , a <br /> counselor visits the family, assess the need for home-based parent education (Safe Families), <br /> confers with other agencies involved with the family and develops a family plan of specific goals . <br /> The family is an active participant in this (up to one year) process, collaborating with the initial <br /> plan for services . The counselor makes weekly visits to address the family plan goals by <br /> "teaming" with parents to initiate improved parenting techniques . Weekly visits are geared <br /> towards reducing risk factors and include parenting videos , working through parenting programs , <br /> creating behavior management plans and establishing family meetings , or other formalized <br /> methods to improve family communication . After completing the program families are tracked to <br /> determine if abuse , or re-abuse has occurred . <br /> • Taxonomy: PH-610 .680+ - Parenting Skills Development <br /> • Focus Areas Addressed : Parental Support & Education <br /> • Number of children served : 200 ; adults served : 133 <br /> Exchange Club Castle & Junior League <br /> Valued Visits <br /> RECOMMENDED : $ 13,500 <br /> Requested : $ 15 , 196 <br /> Description : Program provides a location for visiting parents to meet with their children in a safe, <br /> supervised manner; referrals are from DCF, family courts for contentious divorces and domestic <br /> violence . Visits occur in a recreation room type setting with age-appropriate games and activities <br /> provided for children ages 0- 18 . Guidelines for the program are recommended by the Florida <br /> Clearinghouse on Supervised Visitation and the Minimum Standards for Supervised Visitation <br /> program issued by the Florida Supreme Court. Operating hours are Thursday evenings from <br /> 5 :30 — 8 : 30 pm , on Saturdays , from 8 :30 am to 1 : 30 pm , and include the following services : <br /> monitored exchange , supervised visitation , therapeutic supervision and parenting classes . <br /> Services are provided at the Exchange Club Castle building on U . S . 1 , Vero Beach .
