IN <br />�,. <br />Sabal <br />Palm Replanting Specifications <br />1. <br />Prior to excavating the tree, properly prune the tree to reduce wind drag after planting. <br />Ensure that the trees root system is moist from adequate rainfall or irrigation and that the <br />r' <br />surrounding soil is at field capacity, (field capacity is the state of the soil after all of the <br />gravitational water has drained out of it). <br />r <br />2. <br />Locate and excavate the planting pit that is to receive the newly transplanted palm tree <br />using a minimum 90 inch tree spade. <br />3. <br />Excavate the palm tree using a minimum 90 inch tree spade. <br />r <br />4. <br />Immediately plant the palm tree using the same soil excavated from the planting pit. Soil <br />amendments are not necessary unless the soil from the excavated planting pit is not <br />ai <br />natural such as old asphalt, concrete, gravel, shell, or the soil is altered in some manner <br />that is toxic to plants, i.e. has been poisoned with petroleum products, herbicides, etc... <br />5. <br />Backfill the palm trees root system using the same soil excavated from the pit. Ensure <br />that the soil is properly backfilled and large air pockets are minimized through hand <br />compaction. Once the tree is set, thoroughly water the entire root ball and planting pit to <br />ensure even, adequate moisture is applied and is present throughout the entire root ball. <br />r <br />Backfill any air pockets that may emerge after watering with soil. <br />6. <br />Stake and guy the tree to ensure it is properly secured. See Sheet 2 of 13 of the bid set, <br />titled" C.R. 512 Phase IV Landscape Detail Sheet" for the approved method. <br />7. <br />Supplement watering as needed. <br />8. <br />Trees are to be re -located to locations provided by Indian River County at North County <br />Regional Park, which is at the east end of the Project. <br />W <br />M <br />n <br />0 <br />so <br />0 <br />
