Supplemental Questions for All Activities <br /> 1 . If applying for multiple mitigation activities, how do these activities relate (e. g. , mitigation <br /> project as demonstration for public education; two different mitigation activities for the <br /> same structure; feasibility study and related mitigation project; risk assessment to serve <br /> as basis for a mitigation plan) ? <br /> The mitigation activities on the new senior center are related because each component <br /> helps to achieve ARC primary shelter status for the new structure . The activities are <br /> particularly important for the hurricane hazard as well . The shutters will better protect the <br /> contents of the structure, while the generator will ensure that electricity is available, and <br /> the higher elevation of the building will help reduce flood losses associated with <br /> hurricanes . <br /> 2. Is your community participating in the Community Rating System (CRS) ? If yes, what is <br /> your CRS rating? <br /> Indian River County is currently an active participant in the CRS program and its rating is <br /> a 7 . <br /> 3. Is your community a Cooperating Technical Partner (CTP) ? <br /> While Indian River County is not currently a Cooperating Technical Partner, the <br /> community is looking into partnering with other organizations (i . e . St. Johns River Water <br /> Management District) to become one . <br /> 4. Is your community a Firewise Community ? If yes, please provide your Firewise <br /> Community number. <br /> There are no Firewise communities in Indian River County . The county and its <br /> municipalities have developed a comprehensive wildfire mitigation plan that identifies <br /> wildfire hazards throughout the county, as well as steps that can be taken to reduce the <br /> risk . The wildfire mitigation plan identified the following guiding principles : <br /> 1 . Vulnerability reduction ; <br /> 2 . Community sustainability ; <br /> 3 . Stewardship ; <br /> 4 . Intergovernmental coordination/cooperation ; <br /> 5 . Public education and awareness ; and <br /> 6 . Compatibility . <br /> S. Has your community adopted building codes consistent with the International Codes ? <br /> Indian River County ' s building codes are consistent with the standard Florida building <br /> code , which is based on the International Code Council . <br /> 6. Has your community adopted the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 5000 <br /> Code ? <br /> Indian River County has not adopted the NFPA 5000 code but is working to implement <br /> the aforementioned wildfire mitigation plan . <br /> 7. Have your community 's building codes been assessed on the Building Code Effectiveness <br /> Grading Schedule (BCEGS) 9 /files, what is your BCEGS rating? <br />
