SECTION 16120 <br />PARTI- GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br />A. Furnish, install and test all wire, cable, and appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and as <br />hereinafter specified. <br />1.02 APPLICATIONS <br />A. Wire for all low voltage power and motor circuits shall be type XHHW, stranded. <br />B. Single conductor wire for control, indication and metering shall be type XJH- W No. 14 AWG, <br />stranded. <br />C. Wire for process instrumentation shall be shielded pairs No. 16 AWG, stranded with individual <br />drain wires. <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Samples of proposed wire and cable shall be submitted for approval. Each sample shall have the <br />size, type of insulation and voltage stenciled on the jacket. <br />B. Approved samples will be sent to the project location for comparison by the Resident Engineer <br />with the wire actually installed. <br />C. Installed, unapproved wire shall be removed and replaced at no additional cost to the Owner. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br />A. All wires and cables shall be of annealed, 98 percent conductivity, soft drawn copper conductors. <br />B. All conductors No. 8 AWG and larger shall be stranded. <br />C. Type XHHW shall be 600 volt cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) and type THHN/THWN shall be <br />600 volt as manufactured by the Hi -Tech Company, Rome Cable Corporation, The Okonite <br />Company or approved equal. <br />D. Process instrumentation wire shall be 600 volt, PVC or polyethylene insulated, <br />aluminum/polyester tape shielded, polyvinyl chloride jacketed, type 47C" as manufactured by the <br />American Insulated Wire Company, Belden Corporation, "Beldfoil" 9342, or approved equal. <br />i <br />044572017 <br />16120-1 <br />
