C . Do not apply paint in rain, fog or mist; or when the relative humidity exceeds 85%; or to damp <br /> or wet surfaces; unless otherwise permitted by the paint manufacturer's printed instructions. <br /> D . Painting may be continued during inclement weather only if the areas and surfaces to be painted <br /> are enclosed and heated within the temperature limits specified by the paint manufacturer during <br /> application and drying periods . <br /> E . Exercise caution when attempting to paint in windy conditions . The Contractor is responsible <br /> for all damage caused by wind blown paint . <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 01 COLORS AND FINISHES <br /> A . Paint colors, surface treatments, gloss, and finishes are indicated or specified in the " schedules" <br /> of the contract documents. Color and gloss not indicated or specified shall match the Owner's <br /> existing color scheme . <br /> B . Final acceptance of colors will be from samples applied on the job . <br /> i <br /> C . Paint Coordination: Review other sections of these specifications in which prime paints are to <br /> be provided to ensure compatibility of total coatings system for various substrates. Furnish <br /> information to manufacturer's, fabricators, suppliers and others where necessary on the <br /> characteristics of the finish materials to be used, to ensure compatible prime coats are used. <br /> Provide barrier coats over incompatible primers or remove and re-prime as required. <br /> 1 2 .02 UNDERCOATS AND THINNERS <br /> A. Undercoats: Provide undercoat paint produced by the same manufacturer as the finish coats. <br /> B . Thinners : Use only thinners approved by the paint manufacturer, and use only within <br /> recommended limits. <br /> 2.03 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER'S <br /> A. All coating references herein are to Tnemec Co., Inc., or Ameron. All coatings to be in contact <br /> with potable water must appear on the current Florida Department of Environmental Protection <br /> list of approved paint and protective coatings and be rated NSF approved for potable water. <br /> I2 .04 PAINTING SYSTEMS <br /> I A. Provide a minimum dry film thiclmess, noted as D.F.T., for the applications listed in the <br /> schedule of finishes. <br /> B . Touch-up shop-applied and field applied prime coats wherever damaged or bare and keep <br /> touched-up as necessary before and after installation or erection of the items, to maintain <br /> protection of the metal from rust and corrosion.
