WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of •Indian River <br />County, Florida, desires to express to said JOE HENRY EARMAN its <br />gratitude, the gratitude of the people of Indian River County, Florida, <br />for the great service rendered by him as the Director of Civil Defense <br />for Indian River County, Florida, NOW, THEREFORE: <br />BE IT RESOLVED on this, the 17th day of April, A. D. 1963,'by <br />the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, that <br />said Board, for itself, as well as for the people of Indian 'River County, <br />Florida, expresses appreciation to JOE HENRY EARMAN for his many years <br />of immeasurable service as the Director of Civil Defense for Indian <br />River County, Florida, and for the many long hours of work and effort <br />that he has expended in behalf of the citizens of Indian River County, <br />Florida, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution <br />be forwarded to JOE HENRY EARMAN. <br />* * * * * * * * * * <br />Colonel Beech and Colonel Troutman appeared before the Board <br />with regard to the vacancy created by Mr. Earman's resignation as <br />Director of Civil Defense. After considerable discussion, Motion was <br />made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and <br />unanimously carried, that Colonel Beech be appointed to succeed Joe <br />Henry Earman who has tendered his resignation, effective May 1, and that <br />Colonel Beech be paid a salary of $250.00 a month for his services and <br />be given authority to expend the other funds available in the Civil <br />Defense Account, with the approval of the Board, for such clerical ser- <br />vices and other items that are necessary to operate his office and <br />also be paid the sum of $100.00 for his services as assistant to Mr. <br />Earman during the month of April. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, that $4,000.00 tax money is <br />authorized to be paid to the City of Vero Beach and $20,000.00 is <br />authorized to be paid to the Indian River County Board of Public <br />Instruction. <br />
