OFFICE OF THE COUNTYADMINISTRA TOR <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960-3388 <br />Phone: 772-226-1408 - Fax: 772-978-1822 <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY EMERGENCY ORDER 2026-001 <br />WHEREAS, on February 7, 2026, Upon the request of the Emergency Services Director, I, in my <br />official capacity as County Administrator, and acting pursuant to section 101.10(1) of the Code of Indian <br />River and Resolution 2024-016 of the Board of County Commissioners, declared that a local state of <br />emergency exists in all of Indian River County, Florida, by reason of wildfires; and <br />WHEREAS, by reason of such declarations of a state of emergency, and pursuant to the authority <br />granted in me in my capacity as County Administrator, I am authorized to enter emergency orders <br />necessary to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Indian River County, including, <br />without limitation, those orders authorized in chapter 252, Florida Statutes, and chapter 101 of the Code <br />of Indian River County, and other applicable law; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, this Emergency Order is issued declaring a mandatory burn ban for all <br />areas of Indian River County, prohibiting all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted by <br />the Florida Forestry Service. All outdoor burning of yard trash, household paper products, bonfires, <br />campfires, warming fires, outdoor fireplaces, chimeneas, and cooking fires is prohibited unless 1) <br />authorized by the Florida Forest Service, or 2) it is for the cooking of food exclusively within a gas or <br />charcoal grill. Furthermore, the setting of fires to any grass, brush, or forest -covered land, unless authorized <br />by the Florida Forest Service, shall constitute a violation of this order. <br />THIS EMERGENCY ORDER shall be in effect throughout Indian River County from 8 a.m. <br />on February 7, 2026, until further order. <br />DONE AND ORDERED this 7t' day of February 2026. <br />John A.
