TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1980 <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, ACTING AS THE DISTRICT BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE <br />SOUTH INDIAN RIVER COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT, MET AT THE CITY HALL COUNCIL <br />CHAMBERS, 1053 20TH PLACE, VERO BEACH, FLORIDA, ON. TUESDAY, OCTOBER <br />7, 1980, AT 5:22 O'CLOCK P.M. PRESENT WERE WILLIAM W. SIEBERT, SJR., <br />CHAIRMAN; ALMA LEE SOY, VICE CHAIRMAN; WILLIAM C. WODTKE, JR.; AND <br />PATRICK B. LYONS, ABSENT WAS R, DON DEESON FOR BUSINESS REASONS. <br />ALSO PRESENT WERE GEORGE G. COLLINS, JR., ATTORNEY TO THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS; JEFFREY K. BARTON, FINANCE OFFICER; AND <br />VIRGINIA HARGREAVES, DEPUTY CLERK. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCED <br />THAT THE PROPOSED MILLAGE FOR THE DISTRICT IS 2.37591, <br />FINANCE OFFICER BARTON INFORMED THOSE PRESENT THAT THIS IS <br />A NEWLY CREATED DISTRICT, AND, THEREFORE, THE PERCENTAGE INCREASE IN <br />MILLAGE OVER THE ROLLED BACK RATE IS 100%. <br />THE CHAIRMAN EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS AN ITEM WHICH HAS BEEN <br />DROPPED FROM BOTH THE BUDGET OF THE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF VERO BEACH <br />AND NOW COMES UNDER A SEPARATE TAXING DISTRICT. THIS DISTRICT IS <br />BOUNDED ON THE WEST BY I-95, ON THE NORTH BY HOBART ROAD, SOUTH BY <br />THE COUNTY LINE AND INCLUDES ALL THE BARRIER ISLAND WITH THE <br />EXCEPTION OF INDIAN RIVER SHORES AND ORCHID. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT ASKED IF ANYONE PRESENT WISHED TO BE HEARD. <br />THERE WERE NONE. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER LYONS, SECONDED BY COMMIS- <br />SIONER Loy, TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 80-3 ESTABLISHING A MILLAGE FOR THE <br />DISTRICT FOR 1980-81 of 2.37591. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS COMMENTED THAT THE RECORD SHOULD REFLECT <br />THAT THE PROCEEDS DERIVED FROM THE LEVY WILL BE USED FOR A PLEDGE <br />ON TAX ANTICIPATION NOTES TO BE ISSUED IN THE NEAR FUTURE FOR THE <br />UPCOMING TAX YEAR, AND THE NOTES WILL BE PAID FROM THE TAX REVENUE <br />RECEIVED FROM THE TAX YEAR. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
