OCTOBER 5. 1954 <br />The.Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Courthouse <br />at Vero B each, Indian River County, in a regular meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, <br />October 5, 1954, with the following members present: Commissioners. W. C. Graves, Jr., Chair- <br />man, Aubrey L. Waddell, J. J. P. Hamilton, H. C. Watts and Allison Warren. Also present were <br />E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, S. N. Smith, Jr. .Attorney, L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff; <br />and Douglas Baker, Clerk, <br />The Board agreed for Sam Bradley, Realtor, to use the County Planning and <br />Zoning maps at a Jaycee meeting to be held Thursday night, October 7th. <br />S. N. Smith, Jr., Attorney, reported the abstract had been completed covering <br />the twenty-five acres of land owned by the County at Blue Cypress Lake, and also reported in <br />detail as to his findings after reviewing said abstract. The abstract and written report <br />was filed with the Clerk. <br />Commissioner J. J. P. Hamilton recommended that no work be done on any <br />barricaded road within the county and Attorney S. N. Smith, Jr. was requested to contact <br />owners of land relating to the road south of Road 60 into the Harris Hammock area. <br />Apetition was filed by R.E.'s Service Station, owner R. E. Turlington, and <br />others, regarding property abutting on the present U. S. 191 highway through Sebastian, offer - <br />Ing to convey all of that part of the property owned by them which lies within 40 feet of <br />the center line of the existing road and those who have buildings or other improvements lo- <br />cated within 40 feet of the existing said line agree to move the improvements and to cut off <br />the improvements extending into the right-of-way line and to clear the right of way within <br />plenty of time for such improvements, and further Indicated they would be willing to accept, <br />the sums indicated as compensation.to them as indicated on the petition. The petition was. <br />considered and ordered filed with the Clerk. <br />At.the request of Attorney L. B. Vocelle in connection with the scout camp <br />at Roseland, the Board agreed to furnish several loads of sand in order to improve the road <br />condition near the said scout camp. <br />Attorney L.
