1 <br />1 <br />TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6th 1927. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at <br />the Court House, in Vero Beach, at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday, December 6th 19279 with the <br />following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Chairman; Geo.A.Braddock; J-7. <br />I.aBruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and O.O.Helseth. <br />Niles Marren, Clerk. <br />.Also present were JX.Knight, Sheriff and <br />The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />The Notary Public bond of Freeman L. Knight, in the sum of $500.00 with American <br />-surety Company of New York, a c-orporation, as surety was approved. <br />Request was made by representatives of the Florida Road Oiling Co., that the <br />contract heretofore entered kX into by that company and the County, be assigned to <br />A20.Greynolds of West 'Palm Beach. It was ordered that the request be taken under con- <br />sideration and action will be taken at the next meeting of the Board. <br />r <br />V.T.Humiston appeared before the Board regarding paving Osceola Boulevard from <br />the present end of paving to where the Atlantic -Gulf Special Road & Bridge District <br />commences. <br />J.I,.Stinson, appeared before the Board respecting road from the F.E.C.]Ryg west to <br />his place. Commissioner I,aBruce agreed to meet the County Engineer and make some <br />definite arrangements about placingnthe road in proper condition. <br />E.G.Thatcher, 'Secretary of Chamber of Commerce, together with other citizens, <br />appeared before the Board and presented three petitions, numerously signed, requesting <br />maintenance and improvement of the Dixie Highway south of the City of Vero Beach. <br />Representatives of the Gulf Refining Company appeared before the Board regarding <br />purchase of <br />gasoline for <br />the County. It <br />was ordered that County Engineer work <br />out <br />g plan for <br />the purchase <br />of such gasoline <br />required for Road building and report <br />to this <br />B oard . <br />S.A.Rice appeared before the Board regarding Bridge on Clemons Ave, overthe canal <br />at the dyke line. It was ordered that the County Engineer build a bridge as soon as <br />he can conveniently get to this work. <br />Henry and .;Albert Schuman appeared before the Board regarding clearing of the right- <br />of-way on the peninsular north of the V'labasso Bridge, charging that the right-of-way <br />was not approximately 400 feet from the Ocean as provided in the petition for this road. <br />It was ordered that the County Engineer follow the petition and road committee <br />report as filed at January 1927 meeting of this Board, as near as possible. <br />Mrs. Georgia ,Ann Chambers appeared before Board regarding drainage of her property <br />and asked for proper culverts be put in for the necessary drainage. It was ordered <br />that Commissioner Hamilton and the County Engineer work out the proposition and put <br />the drianage in as good condition as before the road was constructed by her place. <br />Moved and seconded that the Board enter into a contract with the Gulf Refining <br />Company for gasoline to be 2¢ on the gallon under the wagon price. ,:Such contract to <br />run for one year from January 1st 1928. <br />Geo, 1. Branning representing the Farmers Bank of Vero Beach appeared before the <br />Board requesting to be designated as County Depository for the year 1928. <br />It was ordered that the Clerk write the Comptroller as to authority of Board to <br />designate depository at this time. <br />We, the undersigned Committee appointed by Honorable Body on the lst day of <br />November 1927, with instructions to view and mark out the best route for a public road, <br />
