TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 1960 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, met at <br />the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida in a regular meeting held at 9:00 <br />o'clock A. M., Tuesday, February 2, 1960. All members were present. <br />Also present were Ed Schmucker, County Engineer, Sherman N. Smith, Ji., <br />Attorney, and Katherine Morrison, Secretary. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made <br />to the m:�nutes of January 5th and 19th. There were none and upon Motion <br />made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes were approved as read. <br />Mr. Red Blanton appeared before the Board aixd stated that at the <br />last meeting the Board said they would look over the parcel on U. S. #1 <br />right of way at Winter Beach where the Primitive Baptist Church is located <br />and give him an answer as to whether or not they would comply with his <br />request to pay an amount of 75500.00 for the r.i,ht of way. Commissioner <br />Macdonald stated that the Beard members had viewed the property ar_d in his <br />opinion the building proper =could be some forty feet from the pavement, <br />and -that further the construction of the road would have a very marked <br />effect on the value of the property, in other words would increase the <br />value greatly. Further that in -his opinion, the damage would be little, <br />and not as great as the cost of a new church and that it would be an 5.n - <br />justice to the tax -payers by approving such an amount as 75500.03 for <br />this right of way. Commissioner Waddell concurred �,7)_th Mr. Macdonald. <br />The Chairman asked the Attorney if he had obta i.ned an appraised value <br />of this 'property and the Attorney stated he had but only on the small <br />piece that the county would take. The Board requested. Attorney Smith. to <br />get an appraisal for the whole piece which the Church owns for the next <br />meeting. <br />Sam Bradley appeared before the Board and stated that the St. Lucie <br />County Commissioners had received a full valuation report from the appraisers <br />on all the land in St. Lucie County and again requested that this Board <br />do the same. The Board said they would think it over. <br />
