The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met

at the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday, September 4th 1928s at 10 o'clock A.M.
with the following members of the Board presents John H. Atkin, Chairman; Geo A. Brad-
dock; J. W. LaBruce; T. J. P. Hamilton and 0. 0. Helseth. Also present were Miles
rarren, Clerk and J. H. Sutherland, Sheriff.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mrs Zybil G. Hearne, acting in the place of the County Nurse appeared before the
Board and made report of attention given to indigent and needy persons in the County
for the past month.
It was ordered that the Mothers Pension application of Emma 0. Crocker, Sebastian, f.
be approved and that $4 0.00 f
Pp per month be paid her out of the Mothers Pension Fund
until the packing seasons opens and then out to $25.00 per month.
The following Road Committee Report was received and filed
ROAD COMITTEE REPORT.
Wet the undersigned Committee appointed by Honorable Bodt on the 25th day of
July 19289 with instruction to view and mark out the best route for a public road,
described in the petition as follows, to -wit. Commencing at the Wabasso Road 3,/4 mile
Vest of the S.E.Cor. 'Sec. 25 thence North on 1/4 Section line 2/2 mile, thence'West on
half Section line to center Sec.- 25 thence North on 1/2 Section line to Sebastian
road, beg leave to report to your honors as follows: That we, after first having sub-
scribed to the oath required by law before entering on our duties make this our general
reportz.
That we proceeded to the said proposed location of the public road upon the'
27th day of August 1928s and viewed and marked out the following as the best route for
said proposed road. (Said road is to be 50 feet wide).
Commencing at the South. -West corner of the South -East one-quarter of the y
South -East one quarter, Section Twenty-five (25); Township Thirty-one (31) South;
Range Thirty Tight (38) Bast; thence North to the North line of the South -Bast one
quarter said Section, Township and range. Thence Feet to the center of Section
Twenty -fire (25) said Township and Range; thence North through the centers of sections
Twenty-four (24) and Thirteen (13) said township and range to the Sebastian-Fellsmere
Road*
Therefore having performed the duties required by law under the appointment of
your honors, we pray to be discharged.

It was ordered that said report be accepted and filed and notice given for 30 days
as required by law, after which, if no protest is filed some will-mbe declared a public d

40 East; thence North 82 degrees East 397 ft. to the West right-of-way line of State
Road No. .49 Prof ect 691.
Therefore, having performed the duties required by law under the appointment of
your honors, we pray to be discharged.

It was ordered that said report be accepted and filed, and that notice be given as
required by law for 30-2days, after which the said road will be declared a Public County
Road, in the event no protest is filed regarding same.
The following Road petition was received, read and filed:

TO ;THE HOVORABDE BOARD OF COUNTY C IS IONER$:
Gentlemen: -
-We the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida,
respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road, to be
laid -out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at North-east corner of S.W.1/4. of -S X.1/4 of
'Sec. 26 T.32 °E.;R.39 E., run Fest on North line to Dixie Highway 1500 feet more or less,
said right-of-way to be 50 feet wide, 25 feet each side of line.
'We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a
County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road
is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of one dollar to us each and
severally in hand paid by the
said
County of Indian River, the receipt
of which
is
hereby
acknowledged, hereby agree to
give
the right-of-way through our lands,
as shown
by
the
plat accompanying this petition, and re4inquish all claims for damage by reason thereof.
It was ordered that John Aback; Louis Harris and D.L.Leisher, be appointed a
committee to view, mark and lay out said road and report to this Board.
It was ordered
that property
damage
and public liability
insurance be obtained on
11 V cars operated by the
County Nurse,
County
Engineer and County
Road Superintendent.
Notary
bond of Leila Gray in
the
scam of 0500.00 with .American Surety Company, a
corporation
of New York as surety
was
approved.
It was ordered that bills incurred and presented on account of needy persons be paid
out of the General Revenue Fund.
It was ordered that bills and accounts incurred in carrying on the Indian River
County Fair, and which have not yet been paid be approved in -full and warrants issued
the Publicity Fund in settlement of same.
The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examine
and found to be correct, were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of
same.
The
said bills
and
accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Cir-
cuit
Court
and made a
part
of these minutes.

The several County Depositories filed their monthly statements showing receipts
and disbursements for the month of August, which having been checked over, were found
to be correct.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adjourned until the regular meeting to be, held in October 1928.

The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
a
the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday, October 2nd 1928 at 10 o'clock .A.M.with the
following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Chairman; Geo A. Braddock;
I. W. McBruce; J. J. P. Hamilton and 0. 0. Relseth. Also present were E3.les Warren,
Clerk and J. H. Sutherland, Sheriff.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved by the Board.
The Tax Collector filed his month3y report of license collected for the month of
ptember 19289 showing $3.00 collected for the State and $3.00 collected for the County.
Several citizens appeared before the Board respecting Road B-4 South of Glendale
ve. and East of Emerson Ave. It was ordered that the Chairman and County Engineer
ook this over and put the road in proper shape for travel.
1rs Bary L. Daniels of Vero Beach was ordered placed on the pauper list to receive
5.00 per month for the next three months while her son, Lawrence Smith, is serving
ail sentence.

Petitions requesting the respective persons to become candidates and requesting
t their names be printed on the official Ballot for the General election for the
es•named, and signed by the required number of registered voters, were presented
considered and the following persons were ordered placed on said official ballot for
the office designated, to -wits -

The Certificate of the Republican convention, certifying the nominees of that party
ror the offices designated having been received and filed according to law, the said
certificate being signed by J. L. IPowers, Chairman and.Bruce Bazler, Secretary, and being
?roperly attested, it was ordered that the following persons, as nominees of the Repub-
Lican party be placed on the official ballot for the General Election to be held November
Sth 1928, to -wit: -
