Can the First Floor Studs for Typical Partitions be 12'-0" long? They would then span from the underside of the PSF Joists on the Second Floor. 2. Can the Second Floor Studs for Typical Partitions, also, be 12'-0" long? that would extend them 3'-0" above the finished ceiling above the Second Floor and then be braced to the structure above: 3. Can the 1 -518" furring studs at the perimeter exterior walls be 9'-W% The exterior wall insulation is in the masonry cell fill and it may be advantageous to expose the interior of that masonry wall in the uncirculated space above the ceiling. I didn't see any requirement for additional insulation in the cavity between the masonry and drywall. Is the drywall furring for finish purposes only? All rated partitions would be constructed to the structure above as required to meet code. There are other issues related to drywall construction that will need to be reviewed in relation to the sound control requirements. The space above the ceiling is heavily congested with ductwork, sprinkler pipe, cable tray, etc, which raises concerns both from a sound situation as well as a constructiblity issue. So, for now we are looking to resolve the basic steel stud length only.
